- Simple blood test to detect the presence g IgA antibodies against Transglutaminase enzyme. This reaction is common in cases of gluten intolerance, also known as coeliac disease
- Fast and reliable: accurate results within 10 minutes
- The kit includes: lancet, alcohol swab, tube with glass capillary, foil pouch containing the test strip, buffer solution and the instruction leaflet
Why is this test important?
- Gluten intolerance affects about 15% of UK population, but many people suffer unnecessarily because they don't know that gluten intolerance is the cause of their symptoms
- Gluten intolerance is a lifelong , genetically inherited disease, where the inner lining of the small intestine is damaged through ingestion of foodstuffs containing gluten, such as most grains
- It is manifested with a wide range of symptom, ranging from mild weakness, bone pain, diarrhoea, abdominal bloating and weight loss
- Coeliac disease is a very debilitating illness, which can be easily eradicated with the right diagnosis
- Coeliac disease is difficult to diagnose. This test will only give an indication that there may be a problem, however, the formal diagnosis must be made by a doctor
- The body's reaction to the enzyme contained in gluten decreases with reduced intake of gluten. It is therefore recommended that one continues eating food containing gluten until fully diagnosed
