L-arginine is an amino acid that has many functions in the human body. It helps the body elinate ammonia (a waste product), is used to make compounds in the body such creatine, L-glutamate, and L-proline, and can be converted to glucose and glycogen if necessary.

For an erection to occur the body needs to produce Nitric Oxide which is the chemical compound that encourages the spongy parts of the penis to fill with blood during an erection.
